Engagement Films

An engagement is a magical moment in your journey together towards marriage and capturing that story in moving images ensures you can relive this moment time again and again well into the future. Reliving the essence of the time in which your engagement took place.  Still imagery (photography) is also a great way to take iconic moments and display them on your walls, piano tops, or in your wallet to proudly showcase.  However, if still imagery had the breadth and depth of a filmed moment, we would not have moving images!

If you have made a commitment to one another and would like to reflect on these historic moments with your family, don’t forego an opportunity to create an engagement film, as a visual narrative of your love for one another at a key moment in time.  If your budget is limited, and you really like Sinclair Wedding Films style, reach out and have a conversation with us. A conversation will enable us to explore ways we can work together, how to realise your vision, and an open conversation is the ideal approach to start this journey.

I have seen a few posts online around saving costs on your engagement filming. I have a different view on this. It's not about paying more than you should, but the one thing you shouldn't do is skip something that is a unique un-repeatable moment in time. A time when the two of you made a choice to take the next step together, and although it could be faked or recreated at a later date, your emotion and excitement will never truly be the same.

Memories to last a lifetime

Ultimately, this is a memory that in 20, 30, or more years’ time, when you replay it to your children or grandchildren, or just for your own benefit, will rekindle the magic of the moment, encapsulating everything that you felt about one another, initiating an emotional response unique to the booth of you. This film, if aligned with the film of your wedding day, becomes a personal time capsule. If you choose to renew your vows in the future this film becomes the opening act of your very own documentary film, a narrative documentary of you journey together - the value of this is almost priceless and should not be dropped for the sake of something else that does not endure after the event.

Filmmaking is an art form that many people think they can easily do because modern equipment is more affordable, easier to use, and just needs to be pointed at the subject  However, filmmaking is a process, it requires discipline, knowledge of light, camera angles, lenses, audio, and much more.  On top of the image capture there is post-production, editing and colourising, not to mention audio editing and associated music.  Ultimately you will want something to share, to cherish, to be proud of, and enjoy every time you view it in the future.

Carrying a creative thread from your engagement into your wedding or elopement video is a great way to retain a visual narrative of your formal journey together. There are a wide variety of options to explore to achieve something unique to you. At Sinclair Wedding Films, our aim is to engage with our couples to build rapport, to understand your preferences, and suggest ideas to create something visual that brings tears of joy to anyone watching the start of your journey together. Something that will endure.

Think back to a time when you didn’t do something and now regret it. Don’t do that with these key moments of love, moments that create excitement and much joy in your life, irrespective of who you choose to work with.
