I had the pleasure of working with the extremely talented ArtfulHairstylist (Liz Cooper) and SophieFalinskiMakeup on a styled wedding hair and makeup shoot during one summer evening.

Set at the luxurious and cozy location of Liz’s home log cabin salon, we all set out to create a boho styled shoot that showcased two typical wedding hairstyles as well as soft summery makeup tones.

Pre-production started with myself and Liz discussing the style we wanted to take with the shoot, and then setting a date and finding models. Liz also contacted Sophie, a well trusted makeup artist who she had worked on multiple weddings with before, to join us on the project, and create some stunning looks that would help elevate the final film even further.

Styled shoots are always a lot of fun and a great opportunity to work on as they allow you to collaborate with other creatives in the same field, and grow your network; as well as being able to try out a new style and flex your creative muscles. This helps perfect existing skills, and allows for better planning and overall quality when it comes to your big day.

We started by bringing our models into the cabin, making sure they were both comfortable. Liz and Sophie began working their magic, whilst I captured the transformations discretely and unobtrusively. Making sure to get all the different angles, to showcase the incredible work that both of them create. Sophie’s attention to detail with both safety and personal preferences was second to none, making sure both models were happy with the products used and looks being created.

Liz’s professional and bubbly approach to styling hair was a great atmosphere to be around; she has a keen eye for detail, and is great at bringing to life someones vision, working with their ideas along with her extensive knowledge. It was a joy to capture both creatives doing what they do best, and it was a great experience for me to see how different styled looks can be brought to life in such a short amount of time.

Both models were absolutely stunning and a pleasure to work with. Bringing to life all of our ideas, whilst adding their own personal beauty. The final styles capture the boho summer theme that we were going for perfectly, and really show off the talent available from all the creatives involved. I can’t wait to work with both Liz and Sophie on another style shoot, and hopefully a wedding in the future.
